A quarter percent

A really big list of VJ software for multiple platforms. I'll need realtime video effects over a live feed for a project I'm working on, so some of these apps will be handy. A surprising amount of those, however, is in japanese, but still there are some good freeware toys worth a try.

The 2003 Bloggies are accepting nominations. Awards season here we go, which means the same egotistical elitistic wankers will be at it again. "Nominate me! Vote for me! Buy my book!" Whatever. Let them take the burden of too many visitors per day.

The Asseptic.org 2002 roundup: Over the last year, the domain asseptic.org had 70603 individual visits (about 5900 per month - 193 per day), 318203 pageviews (around 26500 per month), transferring in total 8962 megs of data (about 750 megs per month). It's hard to break this figures down to each site, but If Then Else was #1, followed by the Asseptic.org root and The English Manager. Given that I can use up to 15 gigs of monthly transfer, asseptic.org could have 8 to 10 times as many visitors (since I have other domains on that account). But more than that - no, please.

Some bastard posted about NationStates in Metafilter, and as a result the site is overloaded now, and the game unplayable. If posting about the sites we like is the basis of one's blog, people ought to be careful about posting to certain community weblogs, as Metafiltering / Slashdotting does more harm than good to many sites, which end up closing because they can't support the amount of bandwidth (both technically and finantially) demanded. NationStates was weeks offline and forced to upgrade in the past, I doubt the site's admins are willing to upgrade again.

Graham: Oh, c'mon Ed, everyone wants their own little army of sycophants! Hmm.

On the other hand, I'm a bit bored with the Bloggies.
